Dating back to the 1800s, Liska became a well-known center for Jewish religious and cultural life. Annually, thousands of pilgrims visit Liska, honoring Tzvi Hirsh Liska’s memory. With 500+ Jewish heritage sites, including cemeteries and synagogues, Liska is a symbol of enduring heritage. Close to 3,000 Jewish residents called Liska home by the late 1800s, creating a lively community. Liska’s legacy has reached nearby towns, notably Kerestir, impacting Jewish life in Hungary. Each year, nearly 5,000 people visit Liska, attracted by its historical and spiritual landmarks.
